Newly published video reportedly filmed by ICE agent Jonathan Ross seemingly shows the confrontation that led to a deadly encounter with Renee Nicole Good in Minneapolis.
The footage from Ross’ phone, obtained by Minnesota’s Alpha News, shows him getting out of his own vehicle and circling Good’s car while being heckled by another protester. He also interacts briefly with Good, who tells him “that’s fine dude, I’m not mad.”
Ross approaches the front of Good’s vehicle before the footage cuts away as he draws his gun and fires three times into the vehicle. An officer is heard on the video exclaiming “f*** b****,” as the car drives away.
She was pronounced dead a short time later and her death has sparked outrage across the nation.
Minneapolis mayor Jacob Frey defended his use of expletives in the aftermath of the shooting, telling reporters Friday: "I dropped an F-bomb... They killed somebody. Which one of those is more inflammatory?”
The mayor also disputed claims by the Trump administration, including Vice President JD Vance, that Ross, had been injured during the altercation.

Arizona Senator questions ICE agent's training

“When did it become proper weapons handling to have your cell phone in one hand and your gun in the other?” Gallego wrote on X, in response to a post by JD Vance.
“No law enforcement ever trains to get in front of vehicle and why did he continue to shoot even after she drove away. A US citizen died and the VP is trying to justify it.”
Vance, along with other Trump administration officials, has previously said the agent, Jonathan Ross, was “very experienced.”
Trump backs feds to not share information with Minnesota officials

Ilhan Omar slams JD Vance's attack on Renee Good

On Thursday, Vance called Good's killing by an ICE officer a "tragedy of her own making,” accusing the 37-year-old of accelerating her vehicle to attack the officer later identified as Jonathan Ross.
"It is disgusting," Omar said. "She was shot in the face, not just once, not twice, but three times. There is no humanly justification on what that ice agent did to Renee and the horror that her children and her family will have to live with."
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem also accused Good of "domestic terrorism" and said Ross was "surrounded" despite video evidence showing the contrary." Vance spent Thursday heckling the press and accusing the media of putting law enforcement at risk.
But Omar disputed this.

"After the FBI rescinded its cooperation agreement with the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, our office immediately began exploring all options to ensure a state level investigation can continue,” Moriarty said in a statement Friday.
“If the FBI is the sole investigative agency, the State will not receive the investigative findings, and our community may never learn about its contents.
“We are speaking to our local partners on paths forward that will allow us to review the investigation and be transparent in our decision making."
ICYMI: ICE agent involved in shooting previously dragged by car
17:24 , Mike BediganJonathan Ross, the ICE agent who fatally shot a 37-year-old mom-of-three in Minneapolis Wednesday, was dragged and injured by a fleeing driver in a separate incident last year, The Minnesota Star Tribune reported.
Ross was previously dragged by a fleeing suspect during the arrest of Roberto Carlos Munoz-Guatemala, a Mexican citizen, in Bloomington, Minnesota, in June 2025.
Munoz-Guatemala, who had previously been convicted of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct and was on a detainer, ignored ICE agents’ commands, prompting Ross to break open a window of his car and try to unlock the door.
Munoz-Guatemala then accelerated, dragging Ross roughly 300 feet before he was “knocked” from the car. As a result of the incident, Ross needed 20 stitches on his arm and 13 more on his hand, according to court documents seen by the Tribune.
Munoz-Guatemala was later convicted of assaulting an officer.

Protest group backed by ACLU suing ICE for violating constitutional rights

Federal authorities told the court this week that there was “no threat of immediate and irreparable harm,” but “the government’s claims were not true,” plaintiffs wrote last night.
That same day, reports emerged that the government was deploying 2,000 more agents to Minnesota, they noted.
Two days after that, an ICE officer fatally shot Good, they wrote.

Hainsworth said Good, then known as Renee Ganger, had been “like an older sister to me” during their time in the country in 2005 and 2006.
“When I was getting homesick, she’d sing to me. She had a voice of an angel. She’d bring me cups of tea. She had a nurturing, beautiful soul.”
Hainsworth described this week’s news as “soul-crushing.”
The BBC also spoke to Paul Bowman, from Saintfield, with whom Good stayed during her trip, who said his “heart is heavy.”
“It’s just really surreal watching these horrific events and knowing that it is someone you shared life with. Someone who people have friendships with and care about,” Bowman said.
“This is a girl who I played music with, she played with my kids. She was very much a big part of my family during her time in Northern Ireland.”
Speaking on Radio Ulster’s Talkback program, Bowman said he was in “shock and disbelief” about her faith.
“The person portrayed in the media is not the person we knew. It’s important we don’t lose sight that this was a human life.”
Rev. James Hyndman, who was the minister at First Saintfield during Good’s stay, described her death as "an absolute tragedy".
Rev. Hyndman called her “gentle-natured and warm. A loving type of person. She was a lovely, lovely girl.”
