Ice cream van stranded on beach - rescue crews called

An ice cream van became stranded on Burnham beach prompting a response from rescue crews yesterday (August 24).

Burnham-on-Sea Search and Rescue was called during the afternoon when coastguards had to assist the driver of the van.

The van became stuck in some soft sand just off the jetty and coastguards said that the sand was softer due to a heavy rain storm.

The Search and Rescue crew took to social media to post about the rescue that took place.

They posted: "BARB’s crews were called out by Coastguards to assist the driver of a stranded ice cream van on Burnham beach.

"The vehicle’s wheels had sunk into the soft sand near the jetty after a heavy rain storm.

"The jetty supervisor contacted Coastguards for help and several of BARB’s crew quickly pulled it free with our trucks, much to the driver’s relief."
