Kaspa's Desserts forced to pull gruesome Halloween display after sparking outrage

An ice cream shop has been forced to remove a gruesome Halloween display from its window after facing backlash on social media.

Kaspa's Desserts on Eltham High Street, south London, installed a mannequin covered in a bin bag on top of a pool of blood with a large fake knife nearby.

The display, which looks like a dead body, was criticised by people who said it is in appropriate, especially for children who walk past the shop, MyLondon reports.

A person tweeted: "This is Kaspa's Desserts restaurant in Eltham high street south London.

"Highly inappropriate Halloween window display if you ask me, children see this on their way to school!"

Another said: "To be fair that is rather graphic and I think children are becoming desensitised to killings and that's very disturbing."

One more person said: "Why not the old classics of carved pumpkins, ghosts and witches? Why a display that's so graphically violent? Not a scene I would wish to see going about my business, I must say."

Another wrote on Twitter that the display is inappropriate considering the rate of knife crime in the UK.

They tweeted: "Considering knife crime the way it is, this is in poor taste, victims family members seeing that."

It comes after a display dedicated to hit Netflix show Stranger Things had to be temporarily pulled down due to complaints by neighbours.

The home in Plainfield, Illinois, in the US, was forced to close down their display after complaints from a disgruntled neighbour annoyed by admiring crowds.

Reports say one young family member was left "crying so hard" due to the dispute.

The Mirror has contacted Kaspa's Desserts for comment.
