Ice cream parlour serving Asian-inspired flavoured scoops in pineapple bao buns

Although the winter nights are creeping in, a Northern Quarter ice cream parlour is ‘transporting customers somewhere warm’ with flavours inspired by Asia.

Opening in May 2021, Lazy Sundae trades exclusively in frozen desserts, soufflé pancakes, Thai tea and Vietnamese iced coffee.

Inspired by travels in Bali, Thailand, Hong Kong and Malaysia to name a few, the menu offers a range of artisan ice creams with flavours including Peach Tea Sorbet, Honeydew Milk and Matcha tea.

You can even try some more unusual desserts including having ice cream served in a pineapple bao bun and their newest creations, Blueberry Biscoff soufflé pancakes and Hong Kong toast.

The shop is also dog-friendly and encourages four-legged customers to come in and try their pet-friendly sugar and lactose free ice creams, as well as mingling with the resident pup Scrumpy who can be found sniffing around the premises.

Founders Jacqueline and Kwoklun Dang are the entrepreneurial couple behind Manchester’s first bubble tea store, Bobo Tea situated in Manchester Arndale, and hope that their flavours will transport customers somewhere warm.

Although the shop has only recently opened, it has been well-received by visitors who have enjoyed the unusual flavours, with one customer describing it as ‘worth the hype’.

One reviewer said: “Just visited this afternoon with my two children, the staff were friendly, lending me their umbrella as it started to rain as we got there.

“We tried new flavours of ice cream that we haven’t had before, these were Taro, Honeydew Melon and Vietnamese Coffee. They were all delicious and we also got a milk tea bubble tea as well. Would recommend it to all my family and friends.”

Another added: “Fantastic artisan ice creams. Unique flavours. The décor is amazing. The staff are attentive and very helpful. Love the Earl Grey and Biscoff ice cream.

“The resident doggy Scrumpy is so cute too. What a brilliant concept. We have nothing like this in Manchester. All the flavours take me back to all my travels. Ohhhh the Vietnamese coffee float was a lovely delight. A true treasure find.”

Lazy Sundae will be open every day from 12pm-8pm. It is located at 108 Tib Street, M4 1LR. Follow the ice cream parlour on Instagram here , and Facebook here.
