ICC tries Malian jihadist over Timbuktu destruction, crimes against humanity

The trial of Al Hassan Ag Abdoul Aziz Ag Mohamed Ag Mahmoud, a Malian jihadist accused of being central to the persecution of residents in the city of Timbuktu and of the destruction of the city’s holy shrines, started at the International Criminal Court on Tuesday, FRANCE 24’s The Hague correspondent Stéphanie Van Den Berg reports.
