MUMBAI: The International Cricket Council (ICC) will hold its annual conference in Colombo from July 19-22. During the conclave, the ICC bosses will take stock of the T20 World Cup in the US and the West Indies.
There are also discussions likely to take place on the ICC Champions Trophy to be hosted in Feb 2025 in Pakistan. The annual conference will begin with the associate members' meetings on July 19 (Friday). The all-important Chief Executives' Committee will be held on July 20 (Saturday). On July 21 (Sunday), the powerful Finance and Commercial Affairs Committee (a sub-committee of the ICC's chief executives committee (CEC), headed by BCCI secretary Jay Shah, will hold a meeting.
It will conclude with the Annual General Meeting of the ICC on July 22. It will be interesting to see whether Shah will put up his candidature for the ICC chairman's post, something that's being widely speculated. So far, Shah hasn't revealed his cards and has kept everyone guessing. Greg Barclay of New Zealand is the incumbent.
TEAMS PRE-SEEDED FOR LOGISTICAL PURPOSES
Meanwhile, the ICC has received a lot of flak for pre-seeding teams in the Super 8 stage. TOI understands that the ICC pre-seeded the teams for logistical purposes so that the fans of respective teams can plan their travel itinerary accordingly.
"The Caribbean is a challenging region to travel and find accommodation, so the teams were pre-seeded to help fans/media/stakeholders travel and book ahead/plan for the Super 8 games of the T20 World Cup," said a source tracking developments.
