ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 news LIVE: Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka ODI live score and latest updates

Welcome to the Evening Standard’s LIVE coverage of the 2019 Cricket World Cup.

There was sadly no action to report on Tuesday as the tournament suffered its second successive washout.

The match between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh at the Bristol County Ground was eventually abandoned without a single ball being bowled shortly before 2pm BST after two delayed pitch inspections.

It was the same story in Southampton on Monday, when South Africa saw their hopes of qualification for the semi-finals further damaged as their meeting with the West Indies at the Ageas Bowl was rained off after just 7.3 overs.

Sri Lanka, who now sit fifth in the group stage standings, will feel particularly aggrieved, with their contest against Pakistan - also in Bristol - abandoned on Friday due to persistent rain.

It remains to be seen how much cricket will be played this week with more rain forecast over the coming days.
