THE prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (CC) won’t be able to publicise any new arrest warrants in the court’s Palestine case after a judge ordered they must be kept secret, it has been reported.
The Guardian is reporting that ICC judges have told Karim Khan of the move, in an order being closed doors, off the back of several public announcements he has made.
It comes ahead of Khan reportedly preparing a fresh round of applications for Israeli suspects in connection to alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity amid its brutal war on Gaza.
Khan has already secured arrest warrants for a host of high-level current and former Israeli government ministers, including Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former defence minister Yoav Gallant.
A separate warrant was obtained for Hamas’s military wing leader before he was killed.
The announcement was made publicly by Khan in a series of bombshell media interviews, with the court reportedly arguing that it placed the three judges overseeing the case under serious public pressure.
A spokesperson for the prosecutor told The Guardian that they “cannot confirm or deny the existence or content of any judicial decision which has not been made public by the court”.
They added that Khan acted in accordance with the court’s legal framework and an arrest warrant application was “the outcome of an extensive, independent and impartial investigation in a situation under the court’s jurisdiction”.
