Ibrox fire: Glasgow firefighters battle caravan blaze on Fairley Street

Fire crews were scrambled to tackle a blaze that broke out in a caravan in Ibrox in the early hours of this morning.

The alarm was raised shortly after 2.15am after local residents saw smoke coming from a car park on Fairley Street, near the Ibrox subway station.

Four fire engines raced to the scene and brought the blaze under control.

The Scottish Ambulance Service treated one person after smoke from the fire infiltrated a five-storey block of flats close to the fire.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 2.16am on Wednesday, July 21 to reports of a caravan on fire at Fairley Street, Glasgow.

“Operations Control mobilised four appliances and firefighters extinguished a fire affecting a caravan in a car park. A nearby five-storey block of flats was affected by smoke and firefighters ventilated the communal landing of the property.

“One casualty was in the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service and crews left after ensuring the area was made safe.”
