Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate was praised for his full debut for France's national team last night. Les Blues could only manage a draw against Austria, with Bristol City attacker Andreas Weimann opening the scoring for the home side. But France equalised through Kylian Mbappe to secure a point in the Nations League tie - which means France are without a win in their three games so far since June 3.
It was a strong night for the Liverpool man, though, who was finally called up to the first-team and was given his full debut, playing alongside Arsenal defender William Saliba in the heart of the defence. Konate received plaudits for a strong display.
The 23-year-old had a hand in the equalising goal, cutting out a pass before springing an attack, with Mbappe using his pace to get behind the backline and fire into the top corner.

French outlet L'Equipe said on Konate's performance: "For his first selection for the France team, defender Ibrahima Konaté was behind the equalizing goal for the Blues in Austria (1-1) on Friday in the League of Nations.
"After only five days in the France team, Ibrahima Konaté made his Blues debut this Friday evening against Austria (1-1). A consistent performance."
Speaking after the game, Konate said: "I am very happy to have been able to take my first steps. There is frustration from this draw.
"You have to take reasonable risks, I am proud to have taken them. I am satisfied with my performance but we would have liked to do a clean sheet."
Konate will remain with France for their final game as they face Croatia on Monday night.
