Ibrahima Konate injury explained as Naby Keita and Curtis Jones absences addressed by Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp

Jurgen Klopp is hopeful that Ibrahima Konate will be fit for Saturday's Premier League opener at Fulham.

The centre-back was withdrawn in the second half of Sunday's 3-0 defeat to Strasbourg at Anfield as a precaution and was replaced by Sepp van den Berg as a much-changed and youthful Reds side were beaten comfortably by the Ligue 1 outfit.

After a check from physiotherapist Chris Morgan on the pitch, Konate limped off before disappearing down the tunnel for further assessment, but Klopp says he is not too concerned about the defender being an absentee for the Saturday lunchtime kick-off.

"We don't know exactly yet on Ibou, but it doesn't look too concerning, so I hope we caught it in the right moment," Klopp said.

Naby Keita missed the game through illness and is not thought to be a concern for the match against the newly-promoted side at Craven Cottage.

Klopp also confirmed Curtis Jones will be assessed further after the medical department advised to keep him out of Sunday's friendly defeat after his late cameo during Saturday's Community Shield win against Manchester City.

"Naby is ill and Curtis felt a little bit and we couldn't take any risks," added the Liverpool boss. "Curtis, we have to see. [There] was no impact or whatever, so that always makes it a bit, 'My god, what could it be?' We had no time; he felt it today and he wanted to play desperately, but then the medical department said no and that we needed to make further tests. We will do that tomorrow and then we will know more."
