Ibrahima Konate declared himself 'very sad' after failing to mark his debut for Liverpool with a victory.
But the Frenchman struck a more positive note when he described making his bow in a 30-minute-long pre-season friendly as an 'unforgettable moment'.
Supporters got their first glimpse of their £36m summer signing as he took part in the second of back-to-back half-hour fixtures against Wacker Innsbruck and Stuttgart respectively on Tuesday.
Reflecting on his debut, the defender told LFCTV: "I am very happy, it's an unforgettable moment for me.
"Yes, [it was] without our fans but I am very, very happy, just a little bit sad - very sad - because we didn't win!
"But it's okay, I'm happy."
Tuesday's outing against Stuttgart represented Konate's first chance to build up an understanding with his new defensive teammates.
Asked about his progress on that front, he added: "I was very happy with this team on the pitch and [had] good communication with everybody.
"Step by step we will be better, this is our first game in pre-season and we are ready for the next game.
"[The next game is] good news for everybody, for me."
Next up for Liverpool is a meeting with Mainz on Friday that will be played in front of supporters at Untersberg-Arena in Grodig.
On the return of fans, Konate said: "Of course, this is the best.
"[We had] a very long time with the Covid situation that was very bad for everybody in the world and, for the football player, very sad that you play without your fans.
"Now, I think it will be a new level with the fans because I think they will be excited to be with us.
"This will be very, very important for us."
