Ibrahim Adel transfer stance confirmed as club respond to Liverpool 'interest' in 'next Mohamed Salah'

Pyramids FC have welcomed speculation linking Liverpool with a move for Ibrahim Adel, but have brushed off the possibility of the winger leaving the club in January.

Reports last week claimed the Reds were one of a number of Premier League clubs interested in the 21-year-old and, after he was recommended to the club by Mohamed Salah, were lining up a potential January move for the Egypt international. Meanwhile, 90min claimed Arsenal, Brentford, Brighton and Nottingham Forest were also among the clubs who have also watched Adel of late, and reported if he did join an English club, they would need to loan the winger back out as he would not yet qualify for a UK work permit.

However, when commenting directly on Liverpool's reported interest, Pyramids FC director of football Mahmoud Fathallah dismissed such reports as nothing more than transfer rumours.

“Ibrahim Adel is a huge talent for us and for Egyptian football,” he is quoted as saying by KingFut . “The rumours regarding the Liverpool interest in him is good, but there is nothing official happening relating to the matter.”

Meanwhile, Anfield sources have also confirmed that talk of Liverpool making a move for Adel is wide of the mark, believing such speculation to have been encouraged over in Egypt. However, the ECHO does understand the Reds are indeed one of a number of clubs aware of the winger’s progress after he was handed his full international debut last year.

Joining Pyramids in February 2018, Adel was promoted to their first team the following year and has established himself as an integral part of their side, helping them reach the CAF Confederation Cup final in 2020 and secure their first ever second-place finish in the Egyptian Premier League last year. Capped four times by Egypt, he is capable of playing on either flank, upfront or behind the striker, and has returned an impressive 21 goals and seven assists from 57 appearances over the past two seasons.

Hailed as the 'next Mohamed Salah' following such form, Adel was the subject of a £2m bid from Danish side FC Nordsjaelland over the summer, only for the offer to fall short of Pyramids' valuation, which is believed to be at least £5m plus add-ons. Following such interest, Adel was handed a new-long term contract last month, tying his future to the club until 2026.
