Ibiza superclub Pacha won't open this summer for the first time in 52 years.
Chief executive officer of the Pacha Group, Nick McCabe said it had been a "painful and complicated" decision but followed the new rules set down by the Balearic government following the lifting of Spain's State of Emergency on June 21st.
The Balearic government says that for crowd control safety reasons, it will now allow the bigger clubs and discos on all of the islands, which include Mallorca and Menorca, to open at this stage.
Two other famous Ibiza clubs, Hi Ibiza and Ushuaia have already announced they will not open in 2020, having taken the decision with a "heavy heart".

"This is clearly a deep impact for us, however, we understand that this is the correct decision taking into account the situation caused by COVID-19.
"Now is the time to act responsibly above any other consideration, putting the health and safety of our guests, artists and team first.
"We send you all our love and gratitude and we look forward to welcoming you back again in 2021," the clubs said last week.
Ibiza says the ban on big nightspots opening will spell disaster for the season and it has been a major blow for Brits who had been planning their trips to the party island once the coronavirus crisis allowed.
Nick McCabe said: "It is certainly not the best news for the island of Ibiza and for tourism but from Grupo Pacha we will follow the recommendations and guidelines of the administration in order to guarantee the safety and well-being of employees, suppliers and customers."
The Balearic government has made exceptions for smaller clubs which can open their terraces with strict regulations.
The Pacha group is therefore opening their Ibiza venues of Lío and Destino Pacha Resort with extensive health and security measures, including social distancing, guests being seated only with advances bookings, temperature checks, increased cleaning and disinfecting and contactless payments.
Pacha Ibiza says it intend to be back "bigger and stronger" for 2021 and continues to give all its backing to Ibiza.
