Ibiza, Majorca and Barbados added to 'green list' in huge holiday boost for Brits

Holidays to Ibiza, Majorca, and Malta are back on the cards after the Government added them to the travel 'green list'.

In what is a major boost for both holidaymakers and the travel industry, the sun-soaked tourist hotspots were among a raft of additions to the list on Thursday.

Those travelling back to Britain from a 'green list' country do not have to quarantine.

And a host of Caribbean islands - including Barbados - have also made the cut for the new list, which comes into effect from Wednesday June 30.

Announcing the move, Transport Secretary Grant Shapps tweeted: "We’re adding Malta to the Govt green list.

"We’re also adding Madeira, the Balearic Islands, several UK Overseas Territories and Caribbean Islands (including Barbados) to the green list and green watchlist. Israel & Jerusalem are also added to the green watchlist."

And in a further boost for holidaymakers, he confirmed the Government is planning on letting double-jabbed Brits travel without having to quarantine when they return.

"Thanks to our successful vaccination programme, our intention is that later in the summer UK residents who are fully vaccinated will not have to isolate when travelling from amber list countries," he added.

However of the new additions, only Malta wasn't included on the green watchlist.

Locations included on that list are still teetering on the brink of being relegated back to the amber list.

And that could mean visitors run the risk of having to scramble for an early flight home, or quarantining when they return - just like the scenes in Portugal recently when the country was removed from the green list.
