Ibis hotel plans overlooking Bramley Moore Dock thrown out by council after three years

Old plans for a nine-storey budget hotel and multi-storey car to be built on land adjacent to Bramley Moore Dock have been scrapped by Liverpool City Council nearly three years after they were submitted.

The proposals, submitted Crossfield Exclusive Development Ltd in 2019, would have seen old buildings on land bounded by Blackstone Street, Fulton Street and Regent Road flattened and replaced with an 187-room Ibis Styles hotel and a ten-level car park with spaces for 87 vehicles.

Seventy documents, including design and access statements, transport and noise assessments, and multiple consultation statements were submitted, however, the project never came to fruition.

On Thursday, September 1, council bosses took the decision to dispose of the plans, closing the application once and for all.

Had the development gone ahead, the hotel - called 'Bramley Hotel' - would have been run by worldwide hotel chain Accor under its Ibis Styles brand.

It was hoped it would attract football fans visiting the Everton's nearby Bramley-Moore Dock stadium, along with other visitors, with its 'high quality accommodation and affordable prices, appealing to the commercial and leisure sectors'.
