Ibi Watson scores career-high 30 as Dayton Flyers win 10th game

DAYTON, Ohio _ Ibi Watson scored a career-high 30 points to lead the No. 18 Dayton Flyers to an 81-53 victory Monday against Grambling State at UD Arena.

Playing two days after losing 78-76 to Colorado on a buzzer-beating 3-pointer in overtime, Dayton (10-2) let the Tigers (6-7) get as close as 10 points midway through the second half but then dominated the final eight minutes.

Watson made 8 of 12 field goals, 4 of 5 3-pointers and 10 of 10 free throws in 30 minutes.

Rodney Chatman scored 17 points. Obi Toppin scored a season-low eight points.

Dayton shot 51.9% from the field and held Grambling State to 32.3 percent. Each team had 12 turnovers. The Flyers had a 39-30 rebounding advantage.

Dayton returns to action at 7 p.m. Dec. 30 against North Florida at UD Arena. That will be the last non-conference game.
