Ianis Hagi was a Rangers bargain and Ibrox is perfect for his development claims former Romania star

Marcel Raducanu believes compatriot Ianis Hagi 's transfer to Rangers was a steal for the Ibrox club.

The Borussia Dortmund hero played alongside Ianis' dad Gheorghe for Romania before being cast out of the national team when he defected from the army and joined BVB after a match in former West Germany.

Rangers paid just £3million to snare 21-year-old Hagi on a permanent basis from Belgian side Genk last week.

Raducanu has followed his career closely from Germany - and he reckons Steven Gerrard 's side is perfect for him.

He said: "Rangers have made a really good signing in my opinion. I like Ianis a lot both as a person and as a player. He's extremely talented.

"His movement is what makes him the player he is. But he has many qualities.

"He's taken a lot from his father who was, of course, an exceptional player.

"I think it's really important that Ianis gets some stability now because he has moved a lot for a boy at such a young age and I believe he is at a good club to develop.

"Rangers are a big club and he will be loved there by their fans, who are very passionate.

"I am convinced he will be a big success in Scotland and he's going to have a big career if he keeps progressing."
