Ianis Hagi told to make Rangers move as legendary Dad Gheorghe doubles down on Ibrox advice

Legendary Romania star Gheorghe Hagi has publicly reiterated his desire to see his son sign for Rangers after admitting discussions with Steven Gerrard about the 21-year-old's future.

The young Romanian talent is on loan at Rangers, who have first option to buy him from Belgian side Genk, despite interest from Lazio and Sevilla.

Former Real Madrid and Barcelona legend Hagi has been consistent in encouraging his son to make his move to Glasgow permanent.
And, in an interview in Italy, he's reiterated his hopes that Ianis will extend his stay in Glasgow, after revealing he's had talks with the Ibrox boss.

Hagi said: "My son Ianis has a great talent, he is a No.10 who can do everything.

"When he was at Fiorentina, he was very young and there is little patience in Italy. But the experience helped him and he went to Genk.

"Now he's working with Steven Gerrard at Rangers. Gerrard spoke to me and told me is doing exceptional things. I recommend him going there.

"I have a wonderful relationship with Ianis. I passed on my philosophy to him, I ask him to listen to me, but the decision must be his alone.

"He likes big challenges and the more important the game, the more Ianis can be decisive."
