Ianis Hagi suffers spiteful Rangers 'failure' verdict as Gheorghe told to wake up over son's career

Rangers star Ianis Hagi has been dubbed a 'failure' by former Romania cap Marcel Puscas who claims he is only good enough to play for his dad Gheorghe's team.

Puscas, a former teammate of former Barcelona and Real Madrid icon Hagi Sr, unleashed a scathing social media rant on the Ibrox playmaker.

He claimed that the 22-year-old wouldn't be able to cut it at the top clubs in Romania like Cluj and FCSB. He added "will not be able to play anywhere else" apart from Viitorul Constanța, which is owned by his father.

Dad Gheorghe has previously hit back at pundits in his homeland for continuing to compare him with his son.

However, after failing to hold down a regular starting spot at Ibrox since the arrival of Kemar Roofe, critics have been queuing up in Romania.

Puscas said: "Ianis a talented kid born, formed, to be the number 10.

"He was raised, despite certain qualities, in the subjective test tube of his own parents.

"It is the fate of many young Romanians. Parents want to find themselves in the child's talent.

"In the case of Ianis, Gheorghe saw him as a born number 10. It's just in his dad's movie. He formed and raised him in this spirit of Hagi, he failed, and he will fail again.

"Ianis will not be able to play anywhere else. Neither in FCSB, Craiova or CFR Cluj. Maybe only on his father's team, where he only plays and he needs 10 more colleagues.

"Ianis needs a father's club, a club just for him. Nothing more. Sorry, Gica, that's the reality. Wake up!"
