Ianis Hagi seals Rangers transfer as Steven Gerrard gets his man on Deadline day

Rangers have sealed their move for Ianis Hagi as the Genk playmaker joins on loan until the end of the season.

The Romanian youngster landed in Scotland on Thursday night as the Ibrox side looked to bring in reinforcements on Deadline day.

And the deal has now been made official as Steven Gerrard has got his man on a short term deal, but also have an exclusive option to make the transfer permanent in the summer.

The Ibrox boss watched the 21-year-old star at the 2018 U21s European championships before taking over at Rangers.

Hagi, son of Real Madrid and Barcelona star Gheorghe, Hagi, excelled for Viitorul Constanta in his homeland, after a frustrating two years with Fiorentina, before sealing a move to Genk last summer.

He signed a five-year deal with the Belgian side, recording three goals and four assists so far this season.

Rangers were keen on trimming their bloated squad in this window but the injury to Jermain Defoe has meant Gerrard has been forced to dip into the transfer market.
