Ianis Hagi's Rangers season OVER as Barry Ferguson confirms horror injury news

Ianis Hagi will miss the rest of the season for Rangers after picking up an injury, Barry Ferguson has confirmed.

Reports from earlier today suggested the attacking midfielder had almost certainly played his last game for the club with a knee injury picked up during last weekend's draw with Celtic ruling him out of the final three games.

The Romanian appealed for a penalty as he went down under the challenge of Callum McGregor in the box but referee Nick Walsh was unmoved.

Out of contract at the end of the season, the 26-year-old looks set to move on with no news of a new deal being on the table. Clubs in Italy and Germany have been strongly linked.

Rangers 'expected' to move for French defender as offer prepared

Hagi's Rangers career has been plagued by injury and he previously spent over a year on the sidelines with an injury.

Ferguson spoke to the press ahead of facing Aberdeen on Sunday and confirmed Hagi's season is over, adding he was "gutted" for him.

Meanwhile, Robin Propper is back in training with the rest of the squad an and the interim boss is hopeful Neraysho Kasanwirjo will play again before the end of the campaign after featuring for the B team.

Speaking in today's press conference, Ferguson said:  “Ianis, unfortunately, is going to miss the rest of the season. I'm disappointed for him. I spoke to him a couple of times. He's hurting.

“To be fair to Ianis, he's a brilliant kid to work with. He's got a lot to offer, so I'm gutted for him.

“Nana, he's done well to come back. He's still not at the level that I would want him to be. But again, he's had a full week in training. So, hopefully, we'll see him on the pitch before the end of the season.

“Robin Propper trained today, so we're starting to get a few guys back ready to play.

“As a manager, I want it to be difficult to pick an XI. I don't want it to be easy. So it's good to have a few guys back into the fold.”
