Former Rangers midfielder Ianis Hagi has found a new club.

The Romanian departed Ibrox at the end of last season and became a free agent.

He has now signed with Alanyaspor in the Turkish top flight, putting pen to paper on a two-year contract.

Hagi was born in Turkey and was delighted to seal the transfer.

He said [alanyaspor.org.tr]: "First of all, I’m really happy to return to my home, the place where I was born. It’s a very emotional moment for me.

"This is a very important step in my career. I have great confidence in myself. I’m looking forward to joining the team as soon as possible and representing our club in the best way. I sincerely thank everyone who believed in me during this process.

"Turkey is one of the toughest leagues in the world. There are very high-quality teams here. This league has everything I need to want to be here.

"I also carry a great responsibility. I’m aware that there are big expectations in terms of representing this club, my family, and our name. I’m very excited for this."

Asked if he has a message for the fans of his new team, Hagi stated: "When people want you this much, it becomes a huge source of motivation. I’ve been warmly welcomed here. I felt loved.

"I’m a highly motivated and driven person. I love football. Whenever I’m on the pitch, they can be sure I’ll give per cent."

Hagi made 130 appearances across a five-and-a-half-year spell at Rangers, winning a Scottish Premiership title, Scottish Cup, and Scottish League Cup
