Ianis Hagi Rangers transfer exit addressed by dad Gheorghe as Romania legend reveals Ibrox 'love'

Romanian legend Gheorghe Hagi insists there are no plans for his son Ianis to leave Rangers in January.

The Ibrox playmaker is touted as the next big thing in his homeland as he follows in the footsteps of his father, who is considered the best player his country ever produced.

While Hagi Sr turned out for the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid, reports in Romania have seen the Rangers star linked with Roma, Galatasaray, Lyon and Sevilla in recent months.

However, Gheorghe has now moved to cool the speculation linking Ianis with a move away from the Scottish Premiership.

In an interview with Romanian reporter Emanuel Roşu he stated his son was happy to remain in Govan.

He said: "I'm going to Ianis (at Christmas), I can't wait to see him. He's staying with Rangers, he loves it there."

The 23-year-old hasn't always started matches during his time in a Rangers shirt, but has been a mainstay of the team under Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

He has started five of six games since the Dutchman took over from Steven Gerrard.
