Ianis Hagi in Roma transfer link as Rangers 'agree fee' for star to move to Italy in £17m deal

Reports in Romania claim that Ianis Hagi is close to sealing a £17million January switch to Roma.

The Rangers playmaker was linked with the likes of Lazio and Sevilla over the summer but ultimately remained at Ibrox.

After a spell on the sidelines due to Covid, Hagi came off the bench to put in a star turn against Livingston on Wednesday night.

However, according to both Pro TV and Sport in his homeland, the 22-year-old could be set for the exit door.

It's claimed Serie A giants Roma have agreed a €20million (£17m) fee to sign Hagi in January.

The creative midfielder is said to have convinced boss Jose Mourinho of his qualities with a return to Italy on the cards.

Hagi, son of Romanian legend Gheorghe, was previously on the books at Fiorentina but struggled for game time.

It remains to be seen whether there is any truth in the story, and indeed whether Steven Gerrard would be willing to lose a key man midway through the season.

Though he hasn't always started matches Hagi has an impressive record in a Rangers shirt.

In 65 matches he's scored 13 times, as well as providing 19 assists.
