Ianis Hagi given glowing Rangers review as Romanian legend pinpoints the moment that showed his maturity

Rangers loanee Ianis Hagi may have missed a penalty against Braga, but the youngster has still won rave reviews after assisting the goal that beat the Portuguese side.

Steven Gerrard 's side advanced to the last 16 of the Europa League with a 1-0 win, with Hagi threading the ball through to Ryan Kent .

His father, Gheorghe, is a national hero in Romania and his son's progress is followed keenly.

Though Ianis missed a penalty last night, former Romania international Ilie Dumitrescu was hugely impressed by his performance.

Dumitrescu told Digisport: "He quickly got over that moment from 12 yards, when he missed, and after that he went back to being leader.

"His pass was... you can see his maturity there. What I mean is already having the solution, before you get the ball.

"Because if you haven't thought about it in advance you can't make a pass like that.

"He deserves congratulations for getting over that moment because he had two genius assists and one turned into a goal.

"I think he'll also take a penalty in the next match. That power to manage the phase after a failure tells me a lot about the player.

"The lad has personality, he overcame it and decided the game with an extraordinary pass.

"I was expecting his head to go down but when you have that many qualities... he's a leader.

"He'll be a class apart in this league, it's a very rare thing for the Scottish league."
