Arsenal legend Ian Wright has called on Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to give Axel Tuanzebe a longer spell in the team to help solve their defensive issues.
Tuanzebe is highly rated at United however injuries have stalled his progress in recent years.
But last month he proved why the hype around him was justified with a towering performance in the Champions League against Paris Saint-Germain.
On his first appearance of the season, he defended excellently against PSG stars Kylian Mbappe, Angel di Maria and Neymar to help his side pull off a 2-1 win at the Parc des Princes.
Tuanzebe was expected to get a run in the team but captain Harry Maguire, who missed the match in Paris, has returned to the team alongside Victor Lindelof.
On Sunday, United suffered their third home defeat of the season when Arsenal beat them 1-0, raising more concerns about their defence.
And Wright believes Tuanzebe deserves more chances from Solskjaer.
"In respect of the centre halves and having to protect them I saw Axel Tuanzebe play against PSG against the best centre forwards in the world alongside Erling Haaland in Kylian Mbappe and Neymar and he played unbelievably," Wright told Premier League Productions.
"The way he played I think he deserves a spot in the team.
"Maguire’s performances have kicked in but you have to look at Lindelof and say: if you have someone like Tuanzebe that can play like that and the way he dealt with the pace of those guys it means you don’t have to have two guys protecting the back two.
"You can maybe put Tuanzebe in and then Donny van de beek or more offensive players in there. It’s very negative.
"Coming back from the Tottenham defeat I understand but then you beat Leipzig, you should be blasting into this game with confidence. For me it comes back to the manager.
"I think the manager now and the way Manchester United play and still play like that today I don’t think the manager can motivate that team to play consistently."
