Ian Wright shares what Roy Keane said about Bruno Fernandes' impact at Manchester United

Ian Wright has revealed Roy Keane claimed Bruno Fernandes 'sounded like a Machester United player' weeks after signing for the club.

The Portuguese midfielder has been a revelation since joining the club almost a year ago from Sporting CP.

Fernandes was once again the watch winner for United on Sunday as he scored a fantastic free-kick to secure a 3-2 victory over Liverpool in the FA Cup fourth round.

The 26-year-old has already scored 16 goals this season for United and has helped to transform the side from top four hopefuls to title challengers, with his tenacious work rate and winning mentality infectious in the dressing room.

After coming on as a substitute against Liverpool to grab the winner, Wright explained what Keane told him about Fernandes in the early stages of his Old Trafford career.

“I don’t think I’ve seen a player settle in as quickly as he has done," Wright told Match of the Day Live.

"Not only has he settled in well, but you can also see that he’s already a massive influence in the dressing room.

"When you listen to him say that he was quite pleased to go into the dressing room and see that people were disappointed about losing or drawing, I remember Roy Keane talking about him sounding and looking like a Manchester United player.”

Alan Shearer added: “He’s been the game-changer. He’s picked this football club and has given them the bit of spark and it seems as if everyone has reacted to him.”
