Ian Wright sends two-word message to Shkodran Mustafi after Arsenal's win over Olympiacos

Ian Wright hailed Shkodran Mustafi's display after Arsenal beat Olympiacos 1-0 in the first leg of their Europa League last-32 tie.

A second half goal from Alexandre Lacazette was enough to take a slender lead back to the Emirates for the second leg, with Mikel Arteta's side in pole position to reach the next round.

Mustafi, who started alongside David Luiz in the heart of defence, was impressive throughout the game and helped the Gunners keep their third consecutive clean sheet in all competitions.

The Germany international has been criticised for his inconsistent performances earlier this season, and struggled to break into the team under former boss Unai Emery.

But since the arrival of Arteta, the 27-year-old has markedly improved and established himself as one of the Gunners' most reliable defenders.

After the game, the official club Instagram account posted a picture of Mustafi, with the caption: 'Let's hear it for Musti.'

Former Arsenal striker Wright posted a reply, saying: 'Fantastic tonight, @shkodranmustafi.'

Mustafi also took to social media, posting a picture on Twitter alongside teammate Bernd Leno.

The defender wrote: 'Probably not our best performance, but we have been patient and will fly home with the important win.'

The game was just Mustafi's 16th in all competitions for Arsenal so far this season with most of his appearances under former manager Unai Emery this season coming in the Europa League.
