Arsenal legend Ian Wright has taken to social media to give his reaction to redundancies announced by the club.
The Gunners announced on Wednesday that the club are proposing that 55 staff are made redundant due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
“Over recent years we have consistently invested in additional staff to take the club forward but with the expected reduction of income in mind,” a statement on the official website read.
“It is now clear that we must reduce our costs further to ensure we are operating in a sustainable and responsible way, and to enable us to continue to invest in the team.”
“Our aim has been to protect the jobs and base salaries of our people for as long as we possibly can. Unfortunately, we have now come to the point where we are proposing 55 redundancies.
“We do not make these proposals lightly and have looked at every aspect of the club and our expenditure before reaching this point. We are now entering the required 30-day consultation period on these proposals.”
The news comes months after it was announced that players and coaches took a voluntary 12.5% pay cut in April, with the FA Cup win reducing the cut to 7.5%.

The news has been met with disappointment from fans, and now former striker Wright has had his say on the situation.
“Remember who you are, what you are and who you represent!!!” he wrote on his Twitter account alongside three disappointed face emojis.
Wright played a total of 252 times for Arsenal, scoring 149 goals for the club.
