Ian Wright's conversation with Harry Redknapp that convinced him to go on I'm a Celebrity 2019

Arsenal legend Ian Wright has revealed how Harry Redknapp convinced him to go on this year’s I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here!

After weeks of speculation, it was confirmed last week that Wright would be a part of the cast for this year’s show, and arrived in Australia for filming this week ahead of the first show this evening (Sunday).

And Wright, who was managed by Redknapp at West Ham for one season, has revealed how it was his ex-boss who convinced him to appear on the show.

The former Premier League boss won the show last year and was paid a whopping £500,000 for taking part.

“I have been asked to do it every year and every time, I have always thought I am definitely not doing that because there was more and more jeopardy involved,” Wright said.

“But I think the last series was one of the best I have seen in respect of camaraderie.

“Harry and I play golf together and we spoke about it.

Ian Wright arrives for I'm A Celebrity

“He had a really great time, it was a fantastic thing for him to do and he is still talking about it to this day!

“Now it does appeal to me at this particular time. I like the vibe, it is a really cool show and I am really intrigued.

“Some of those things [snakes, rats and creepy crawlies] will make me squirm but I will deal with them when I am in there!"

Former Premier League stars Kieron Dyer, Wayne Bridge and Neil Ruddock have also appeared on I’m a Celebrity in years gone by.
