Arsenal legend Ian Wright insists that Granit Xhaka should apologise to the fans after his reaction to being substituted in the 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace.
The Arsenal skipper was booed by fans at the Emirates Stadium as he made his way off the pitch, with the Swiss international responding by gesturing in the direction of supporters before cupping his ears to the crowd and then taking his shirt off as he stormed down the tunnel.
Arsenal boss Unai Emery admitted after the game that his captain was "wrong" to respond in the way he did, but he said that now was "not the right time" to talk about Xhaka's future as the skipper.
But Wright has delivered his verdict on Xhaka's actions, with the Arsenal legend sending a clear message to the 27-year-old.
"I don't like any player to get booed. It’s not the best time for any player," he said, speaking on BBC programme Match of the Day 2.
"This is the captain. Now I think they are frustrated with the fact he has not run off the pitch. I’ve seen him substituted before and he has bolted off the pitch.
"He’s goading the fans. We’re talking about fans that have watched him in the four years he has been there have a handful of good games and he’s treating the fans like that.
"He should apologise. That's the captain. He should have apologised already. That's the guy they have chosen as the captain, and that is not the case that is the end of it, but that's not a captain's behaviour.
"Arsenal fans have shown a lot of patience with him and the performances he has put in. He owes them a lot more than acting like that."
