Ian Wright has no worries about the recent dip in form of Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold.
The Kirkby academy graduate started life on Merseyside remarkably well, setting world football alight with his performances at right-back to establish himself as the best in his position.
However, his form over the past few weeks, like a lot of Liverpool players, hasn’t been up to his usual standard.
Alexander-Arnold has more often that not got the nod ahead of fellow academy star Neco Williams at right-back this season, and played the full game in the defeat to Manchester United in the FA Cup.
Speaking in the build-up to the game at Old Trafford, Wright has defended Alexander-Arnold’s recent form and hopes that that it is nothing more than a slight blip.
“You look at Trent and you try to get into the spaces where you’ve had your joy,” Wright told the BBC, before kick-off between Liverpool and Man United.
He added: “What you hope doesn’t happen with Trent, because he’s been unbelievable up to this point of his career, is that he starts to lose his confidence and doesn’t put the balls in like we’ve seen before.
“Absolutely a temporary thing and with everything that’s happened with Liverpool, that’s gonna have an impact.”
