Ian Wright names the three Arsenal players who stood out against Manchester City

Arsenal may have come out on the losing side against Manchester City on Saturday, but a trio of Mikel Arteta's player's impressed in defeat.

That is the view of Gunners legend Ian Wright, who was pleased by the efforts of Bukayo Saka, Dani Ceballos and Gabriel Magalhaes despite Pep Guardiola's side claiming a 1-0 win at the Etihad.

Raheem Sterling scored what proved to be the pivotal goal in the 23rd minute. Arteta's men grafted hard, but were left without a point, and Wright praised City defenders Kyle Walker and Joao Cancelo for snuffing out the threat of Gunners starman Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

"(Walker) had to cover that left-hand channel which Aubameyang loves working in and with Cancelo playing like he did who I thought was very impressive today, I thought Kyle Walker covered," Wright said on Match Of The Day.

"He had himself in and around Aubameyang in that channel. He stopped a lot of the balls that go into him, you can see there's a lot of play going through him and he did very well. Even at times he was clipping nice balls.

"A couple of Arsenal players played well today, I thought Saka did well, [as did] Ceballos and Gabriel."

The game was somewhat overshadowed by City striker placing his hand on assistant referee Sian Massey-Ellis, sparking a reaction from fans watching at home.

Wright described Aguero's actions as "unnecessary" and "patronising", while his broadcast partner Alan Shearer added: "He shouldn't put his hands on the assistant referee, it just wasn't a good look."
