Ian Wright names the one man responsible for Arsenal's woes and it's not Unai Emery

Arsenal legend Ian Wright has declared that former chief executive Ivan Gazidis is responsible for the club's issues, stating that the club are 'reeling' from his time in the role.

The Gunners' defeat at the hands of Manchester City on Sunday left Arsenal with just one win in their last 12 matches in all competitions, with interim manager Freddie Ljungberg being handed a nigh-impossible task to steady the ship.

Ljungberg took the reigns after Unai Emery, a man championed by Gazidis during the hunt for Arsene Wenger's replacement, was axed in November following defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League.

While there are many issues at the club that need to be resolved, Wright is certain he knows exactly who to blame for the club's mess.

Asked if Arsenal are in a better position than when Wenger left, Wright said to Premier League productions: "No, they're not. Whatever people say, it was time for Arsene to leave simple because of the way the players were. It went stagnant.

"They tried with Unai Emery, it didn’t work out but you have to look at recruitment at the time and management of the club at the time under Gazidis and the mismanagement of funds and recruitment.

“This is where Arsenal are at the moment, I think they’re reeling from his time there, Gazidis. We’re seeing that we’re right in the middle of it now, the crux of it now.”

The disdain for Gazidis is a feeling shared by the majority of the Arsenal supporters.

Gazidis left Arsenal shortly after Emery's arrival at the Emirates Stadium, joining Serie A side AC Milan and has been criticised by the club's fans following a managerial change in October.
