When Arsenal made the decision to shell out £7.5million on striker Dennis Bergkamp in June 1995, it is fair to say that it raised a few eyebrows.
The Dutchman had experienced a drab two-year spell at Inter Milan, scoring just 21 times in 72 appearances after making a real name for himself at Ajax.
So, it was very surprising that the Gunners made the decision to pay a club-record transfer fee, which it was at the time, to lure Dutchman to the Premier League.
But the rest, as they say, is history.
Bergkamp would go on to cement himself in Arsenal folklore, proving himself as one of the greatest players to have ever pulled on a Gunners shirt.
In 402 appearances for the club, over an 11-year spell, the former Ajax assistant manager netted 109 goals, as well as helping the club win three Premier League titles, four FA Cups and three Community Shields.
But it wasn't just his goals that made him the player he was, it was his skill and trickery as well.
He would often be able to conjure something up out of nothing and make something happen in the blink of an eye.
And it is for that array of reasons that Wright, a former teammate of Bergkamp's, believes that the Dutchman is the Gunners' best ever signing ahead of Thierry Henry.
Speaking on the Match of the Day: Top 10 podcast, Wright said: "He was a massive signing for Arsenal and he's the one that all the success was built on.
"He was magnificent and is the best signing the club has ever made. He changed the DNA of the club.
"It was a real honour to play with somebody of that calibre."
