Ian Wright makes his feelings clear as he responds to Arsenal sacking Steve Bould

Ian Wright has reacted to the news that Arsenal have sacked Under-23s coach Steve Bould after 30 years at the club.

Wright took to Twitter on Sunday morning, shortly after the news was announced, to post a picture of himself hugging Bould while Lee Dixon looks on.

He accompanied the post with the caption: "Legend" and included four heart emojis.

Bould joined Arsenal from Stoke City in 1988 and went on to make nearly 300 appearances for the north London club before representing Sunderland for a year and then retiring.

He returned to Arsenal in 2001 and has held various coaching positions at the club.

Bould was in charge of Arsenal's Under-18s side as they won Premier Academy League titles in 2009 and 2010.

They also won the FA Youth Cup in the 2008/09 season under Bould.

The 58-year-old was promoted in 2012 to become Arsene Wenger's assistant - a role he held for seven years.

Bould was later reassigned a position as an Under-23s coach in 2019.

The likes of Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith-Rowe flourished under Bould and have now both progressed to the first team.

Mikel Arteta is clearly keen to take Arsenal in a new direction, but it seems Bould backs the Spaniards to succeed, despite the fact he will no longer be involved.

Tony Adams told football.london in 2020: "I can't speak highly enough of the guy. When I talk to my mate Steve Bould who's still in the club managing the Under-23s at the moment and he said to me 'Tone, this guy's got it all."

Arsenal are yet to officially confirm Bould's departure, but an announcement is expected in the coming days.
