Ian Wright makes Champions League final prediction as Man City and Chelsea compared

Ian Wright has backed Manchester City to reverse their recent form against Chelsea and clinch their first Champions League title.

The two Premier League rivals will meet for the fourth time this season in the Istanbul showpiece towards the end of the month.

While City beat Frank Lamard's Chelsea 3-1 in January, Thomas Tuchel has outfoxed Pep Guardiola twice since taking over as Blues boss.

The German led his side to a 1-0 victory in the FA Cup semi-finals last month and a 2-1 win at the Etihad in the Premier League on Saturday.

Nonetheless, Wright has tipped City to "just get over the line" against Chelsea when they clash on the grandest stage of them all.

"I’m really confused simply because of the amount of players who were missing for Manchester City in the last game [the 2-1 defeat]," the former Arsenal and England striker told on his Wrighty’s House podcast.

"I like how ballsy Chelsea played, but will they do the same with (Kevin) De Bruyne, (Riyad) Mahrez and (Ilkay) Gundogan playing? I just feel that this is it for Man City, they have to make it happen.

"Whereas with Chelsea, we saw what happened with Frank Lampard and then Tuchel has come in and turned it around and, bang, they’re in the final.

"They seem to be going into the final with a lot more confidence even though City are all-conquering. But I’m probably still going to go with Manchester City.

"I think they have to get over the line to really rubber stamp the dominance they’ve had in the Premier League in the last few years. I think they will just get over the line."
