Ian Wright makes Arsenal admission in brilliant Nottingham Forest message

Arsenal legend Ian Wright has admitted that Nottingham Forest were ‘better in every area of the pitch’ than the Gunners in Sunday’s FA Cup clash.

Steve Cooper ’s men pulled off a third round shock in a memorable evening at the City Ground, Lewis Grabban ’s 83rd minute goal giving them a 1-0 win over the team who have won the competition more than anyone else.

The win sets up a fourth round tie with current holders Leicester City at the City Ground next month.

Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright was at the game, providing punditry for the live broadcast on ITV.

Following the match, he sent a message to Forest fans on social media.

“Didn't just show more desire and intensity, Forest the better team in every area of the pitch,” he wrote.

“I still love the FA Cup!!! Great fans, wonderful club all the best against Leicester. @NFFC @itvfootball.”

Alongside the message was a video of Forest fans singing Mull of Kintyre before the game kicked off.

Wright himself did spend a short time at Forest as a player, playing 10 games for the club between August and October 1999 and he reflects fondly on that time.

"I had a month before Henrik Larsson got injured and I went to Celtic. The month I had with the fans was fantastic. It was a fantastic month,” he said on ITV Sport.

"I came here to score goals. Everyone was so friendly. I'm not joking.

"It's one of those situations where you think 'if only'. It was a wonderful place to be."

Forest will host East Midlands rivals Leicester City in the fourth round of the competition on the weekend of February 4.

The Foxes lifted the trophy for the first time in their history last season, beating Chelsea in the final.
