Ian Wright heaps praise on Miguel Almiron amid 'obvious' Eddie Howe chat after Jack Grealish jibes

Ian Wright has heaped praise on Miguel Almiron after his blistering start to the season. The Newcastle United attacking midfielder is in the form of his Magpies career, continuing on from where he left off in pre-season.

The Paraguayan has scored four goals in nine appearances in all competitions this season, just months after a distasteful comment from Manchester City midfielder Jack Grealish. The England international made reference to fellow City winger Riyad Mahrez 'playing like Almiron' in one of the final games of last season, adding that the Algerian should have been substituted.

The comments from Grealish were widely condemned at the time, with Almiron proving an important point this season.

Speaking on Wrighty's House, Wright said: "We've got to give him [Almiron] flowers. Can we just roll back to Manchester City, because there's certain things that are said in the dressing room, that you know is being said in dressing rooms but it's not supposed to f****** leave the dressing room.

"When you hear Jack - I love Jack Grealish don't get me wrong - the man was properly oiled up on that procession. For him to say he should have take Mahrez off because he's playing like Almiron, is easily one of the most disrespectful things I've heard, ever.

"That's not supposed to be public consumption. So to see Miggy start this season - boom - he's flying and I think you have to throw in Guimaraes, you've got to throw in Trippier, you've got to throw in the fact he's got a team that's really going forward. They're 4-3-3 now.

"You're looking at somebody whose work rate has never been in question, end product guys is what it's all about. That's probably why Jack gave him that.

"They're so in sync with what they're doing. When you look at someone like Miggy, what I love about him more than anything else is that when they get the ball and switch it quick enough and it goes, the amount of times you see a player get the ball and he's facing up a defender, he stops and rolls it back, I saw that so many times in Forest vs Villa, but Miggy will get it and he'll shimmy inside. He was so unlucky the other day.

"He's focused now. It's obvious to me that Howe has had that chat with him, 'Listen we know your work rate is never in question but you need to add some end product.'

In games, he's shooting from everywhere now, he's doing it now and I'm so pleased for him. This is why I believe he's got to get flowers."
