Ian Wright hails Jurgen Klopp over Curtis Jones management for Liverpool

Ian Wright has hailed Jurgen Klopp for his management of Curtis Jones.

The 19-year-old has become a key presence in Liverpool's midfield so far this season, having been handed his chance after a succession of injuries to senior players.

Jones has made 15 appearances for the Reds in all competitions so far this season and won man of the match in the crucial 2-1 victory over Spurs on Wednesday evening.

The midfielder's performances so far this season have won plenty of praise and his emergence as a first-team regular comes two seasons after he made his debut in an FA Cup defeat to Wolves in January 2019.

Wright believes it is an example of superb management from Klopp, who is having his faith in the youngster repaid.

Speaking on Optus Sport's Kelly and Wright Show, former Arsenal star Wright said Jones fits the part in the Reds' midfield despite his young age.

"You look at him and I watched him in a massive game for Liverpool and he just looks like he fits there now.

"For Curtis Jones, it looks like he has really solidified the place.

"Some of the skills he was doing, it just shows how confident and ready he is.

"You have to say it’s testament to Klopp and his team for the way they’ve put him through. It’s brilliant management."

With Thiago Alcantara having returned to training, Klopp will soon face a dilemma of whether to reward Jones for his good form by sticking with the youngster or restoring summer signing Thiago to the starting line-up.
