Ian Wright explains why Dominic Calvert-Lewin should be disappointed in Liverpool’s Jordan Henderson

Everton's Dominic Calvert-Lewin should be ‘disappointed’ in Liverpool’s Jordan Henderson over the pair's England penalty incident reckons Ian Wright.

Captain for the day, Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford scored the only goal of the game from the penalty spot on 68 minutes in England’s 1-0 friendly win over Romania in Middlesbrough but was substituted seven minutes later.

Just three minutes after that, Everton striker Calvert-Lewin won a spot-kick and looked eager to step up from 12 yards himself before Liverpool skipper Henderson, who had been given the armband after Rashford’s withdrawal, spoke to him and took the ball for himself – promptly seeing his effort saved.

Wright told ITV Sport : “The thing is, it’s the person that's bumping you off, isn’t it, it’s Jordan Henderson.

“As much as we look at someone who has never scored for England. Missed in the shootout against Colombia. He fancied it. He wanted to take it.

"It’s the type of game if you’re going to take it then this is the type of game to take it to build your confidence.

“But I would be disappointed if I was Calvert-Lewin because you can see that he wanted it. I would be very disappointed if I was a striker.”
