Ian Wright names the Arsenal player who should have done better against Burnley

Ian Wright admits Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's "rustiness" could have been the reason for his missed chances against Burnley.

The Gunners were held to a 0-0 draw at Turf Moor on Sunday, with Aubameyang returning to the starting line-up after missing the last three games through suspension.

But the Arsenal captain failed to find the back of the net on a frustrating afternoon, after missing three presentable chances.

Aubameyang fired wide from close range in the opening stages, before firing an attempted lob straight at Nick Pope before half-time.

Burnley 0-0 Arsenal: Mikel Arteta press conference

"You can only put it down to a little bit of rustiness," former Arsenal striker Wright told Premier League Productions.

"It seems like a very poor finish, a rushed finish. You would have thought a side-foot from where he was would have sufficed.

"This one [second big chance], could he have done it first time? It’s very hard to get that touch and then get it over a keeper of that size as well so that was a difficult chance.

"When you look at this chance [header in the second half]… it’s unfortunate. It’s unlucky. You want to hit the target. That’s the main thing you do there.

"You don’t try and be too precise with that header because it’s such a good ball, he’s made a good move off the defender and you just want to make the goalkeeper make save. But hit the target."

Speaking after the game, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta was asked whether a draw was a fair result.

"Depending on the moment of the game," he told reporters.

"I think we started really well, we could have scored at least two, we dominated the game like we wanted (to), we got out from their pressure pretty well, we played in the opponent's half and we controlled the long balls and second balls.

"After 20-25 minutes, we started to concede a lot of unnecessary free kicks, throw ins, corner kicks and when that happens you can't find any continuity in your play and that's not the game we want to play.

"I was very disappointed with how we started the second half. The first 15-20 minutes we could not control any aspect of the game and we allowed a lot of crosses and second balls inside our box and some would say we were lucky not to concede a goal.

"The positive thing is the reaction in the last 20 minutes when we started to play again and we have courage to play and courage to take the opportunities that they allow because the space was there because they were committing a lot of people forward but we couldn't finish the actions well enough to score."
