Ian Wright delivers honest Arsenal vs Man City prediction amid Erling Haaland injury claim

Arsenal icon Ian Wright has given his thoughts ahead of Wednesday's crucial Premier League clash against Manchester City

The Gunners dropped points on Saturday in their quest to win their first league title in 19 years, drawing 1-1 with Brentford in controversial fashion. Second-placed City made no such mistakes, pushing past Aston Villa with a 3-1 win that puts them just three points behind Mikel Arteta's side in the current standings.

However, there was one big negative for City, with striker Erling Haaland coming off at half-time due to a slight knock. After the match, Arsenal hero Wright admitted that it will be an extremely tough game for the north Londoners with or without the Norwegian centre-forward on the pitch.

"We saw what he [Haaland] can do with his stretching of the team which is something that can cause problems, but it was always going to be a tough game for Arsenal," Wright old BBC Match of the Day 2. "We’ve seen what City are capable of without Haaland.

"It’s a game that Arsenal need to win, they need to win their home games and City are coming there now knowing if they win that game they’ll go top. Pep’s talking about it’s still early but they know this terrain, they know what they need to be doing.

"But I think Arsenal will be ready for them. Arsenal will be looking forward to this game. It was unfortunate against Brentford how that turned out but I think the point is good enough.

"This is the kind of game to get yourself going again." City boss Pep Guardiola gave an update on Haaland's injury after the full-time whistle, admitting that he in unsure if the former Borussia Dortmund forward will be ready for Wednesday night's match at the Emirates.

"Right now I don’t know", Guardiola said when asked if Haaland will play against the league leaders. "We will have to see over the next few days.

"He got a knock and was uncomfortable so at 3-0 up we didn’t want to take the risk. We will assess him and if he’s not ready we will play someone else. Hopefully he is ready."
