Ian Wright changes his mind on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Manchester United

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has got his side performing like the Manchester United of old, according to Ian Wright.

United moved to the top of the Premier League table on the back of a 13-game unbeaten run following Wednesday’s 2-1 away win over Fulham.

Solskjaer’s side are currently two points clear of rivals Manchester City, who have a game in hand, and third-placed Leicester, while defending champions Liverpool are six points adrift in fourth place having failed to win since before Christmas.

United’s away form has been particularly impressive, with their unbeaten run on the road in the league stretching back more than a year.

Ahead of United’s FA Cup fourth-round tie against Liverpool, Match of the Day presenter Gary Lineker asked Wright if the Premier League table was presenting an inaccurate picture, with United top.

“No, I don’t think it does at all,” the former Arsenal striker replied. “I am one of those who have doubted Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the past after the Spurs, the Arsenal and Leipzig games, but the response has been magnificent.

“When you look at this Man United side, the squad and the individual player management, the way they’ve responded has been absolutely brilliant. It’s like an old Man United side, with the way they attack the games with the old mentality, he’s got that back in them.”
