Ian Wright agrees with Danny Murphy's West Ham striker point amid relegation struggles

Ian Wright believes Danny Ings will be the difference between West Ham United staying in the Premier League or being relegated this season.

The Hammers picked up a much-needed 4-0 win over Nottingham Forest on Saturday. Ings got the ball rolling with a brace inside the final 20 minutes, Declan Rice and Michail Antonio adding finishes of their own to complete the win.

For the English striker, it was his first goals for the club since joining from Aston Villa in the January transfer window and the victory guided David Moyes' side out of the relegation zone and two points ahead of 18th place.

On BBC Match of the Day, Danny Murphy said that a fit Ings will be the difference between the east London outfit being in a relegation scrap and avoiding a nervous finish and former West Ham striker Wright echoed those sentiments, saying the ex-Liverpool star is the player the Hammers need to avoid the drop.

“We said at the start of the game the importance of forwards they have got on the pitch, someone like Danny Ings,” said Wright on Premier League Tv production.

“He can be the difference especially when you are at this end of the table, trying to win games. He will get these chances and will take those half chances when he gets them, and that’s what they need.”
