Aussie swimming legend and Olympic gold medalist Ian Thorpe has allegedly fallen victim to a $150,000 robbery, with watches, jewellery and other personal items reportedly stolen from his home.
The five-time gold medalist attended Paddington Police Station and spoke to officers for a substantial period of time, 2GB Radio host Ben Fordham first reported on-air on Friday morning.
“We believe that he’s in the red to the tune of $150,000,” he said.
“There are no details about what’s allegedly happened to Ian Thorpe. We don’t know if he’s been robbed online or in person.”

Thorpe’s manager James Erskine was initially unaware. But when he spoke to his client, Thorpe told him he went to police “to talk about an insurance job”, as reported by news.com.au.
He later phoned into Fordham’s show to confirm the Olympian had been the victim of a break-in with valuables including jewellery and watches stolen.
No Olympic medals were taken, he said.
“He has had some things stolen from his house — watches, jewellery, some personal items,” Erskine said, per news.com.au.
The manager said Thorpe had told him there didn’t seem to be obvious signs of a break-in.
Speaking to the Sydney Morning Herald, Erskine said the swimmer reported the robbery after his insurance company told him he needed to file a police report before lodging a claim in relation to the stolen goods.
In a statement, NSW Police confirmed a 42-year-old man had attended Paddington Police Station about 4pm on Thursday to “report an alleged theft incident”.
“Officers attached to Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command have commenced an investigation into the incident,” the statement read.
