Ian Evatt reacts after FA decide not to charge Bolton Wanderers boss for Tranmere red card

Bolton Wanderers Ian Evatt is pleased the FA have chosen not to take any further action against him after he was shown a red card following the weekend defeat to Tranmere Rovers.

The Trotters manager was dismissed by referee Neil Hair at Prenton Park on Saturday following the 2-1 defeat.

Evatt approached Hair and the other officials after full-time on the pitch to question some of the decisions made during the League Two clash.

The Bolton boss insists he did not swear or raise his voice during the exchange, but was shown two yellow cards and subsequently a red by Hair.

That meant Evatt would have had a touchline ban for tomorrow's clash at the One Call Stadium against Mansfield Town.

But a Wanderers statement confirmed that the Bolton boss will not face a charge from the FA and that he will be in the dugout for tomorrow evening's game.

The statement read: "Bolton Wanderers manager Ian Evatt will not face a charge from the Football Association following Saturday’s Sky Bet League Two match against Tranmere Rovers at Prenton Park.

"Referee Neil Hair issued the manager with a yellow and then a red card after the final whistle.

"However, the Football Association has decided not to take any action and Ian will be in the dugout for tomorrow evening’s game against Mansfield Town."

Speaking ahead of tomorrow's encounter, Evatt himself had his say on the FA's decision, which he feels speaks volumes for how events unfolded after the final whistle.

He said: “The FA have not charged me, they’ve dropped charges, which is good.

"They have reviewed the match footage, reviewed what was said by myself and deemed that there should be no charges brought forward, which obviously speaks volumes for what happened on Saturday.”
