Ian Evatt insists there is no concern on the loss against Newport County affecting Bolton Wanderers for the rest of the season and has called on his players to take their frustrations out on other teams.
Wanderers' unbeaten run came to an end yesterday against the Exiles as Bolton lost in League Two for the first time in 15 matches.
They could have been several goals to the good by half-time but were unable to capitalise on their opportunities, with Eoin Doyle hitting the bar and Kieran Lee missing two great chances.
The result at Rodney Parade leaves Wanderers fourth in the table and out of the automatic promotion places, but only on goal difference.
Evatt is not concerned about the result in South Wales affecting his side going forward after they created numerous opportunities on a poor playing surface.
And he believes he got a reaction from his players after the Good Friday draw at home against Colchester United, despite not getting three points against the Exiles.
He said: "They’re disappointed obviously because they wanted to stay unbeaten for the rest of the season and I think today they’ve deserved to.
"But sometimes in football you don’t always get what you deserve. We’ll give some rest and we’ll regroup and we’ll take our frustrations out on the opposition for the rest of the season.
“People have to remember that as well on a really difficult surface that isn’t really fit for league football the players have produced moments of sheer quality again and again. The play deserved goals.
"People can say on Friday we looked a bit toothless, we didn’t today, we looked like we had cutting edge, we looked like we had goals in us. We could create, but we just didn’t take the chances.
“I just think we were a step off it on Friday and we weren’t doing the things that we coach them to do.
"We have certain guidelines that we expect and non negotiables and they didn’t reach them on Friday. Today there was no question that we got a reaction and we really deserved to win the game.”
