Ian Evatt believes a loan spell away from Bolton Wanderers would be a benefit to winger Dennis Politic as the League One side ponder options in Scotland and the North West as potential destinations for younger players to get minutes under their belts.
Politic, 21, returned to action in a Wanderers shirt during pre-season after some 12 months out from a serious knee injury.
Politic picked up the injury last pre-season in a friendly against Loughborough University and had been on the rehabilitation trail since then.
He came on in the second half of the pre-season friendly victory against Barrow but has not played in either of Bolton first two matches of the 2021/22 campaign.
Evatt has admitted the club are looking to get some younger players out on loan to aid their developments and get minutes under their belts.
And he believes that Politic, having been out of action for so long, would benefit from getting minutes under his belt somewhere else for the time being to build up his physical condition.
Poltiic is a player Evatt admires and, when it comes to possibilites of where young players could head, options in the SPL and the North West are on the cards.
He said: “I think a loan would do him good. Physically he is still not where I would like him to be so he needs time and minutes on the pitch.
“We have got a really competitive forward area at the moment and Dennis needs games to get himself to the fitness levels where he was prior to injury.
“We think a lot of Dennis, he is a talented young man and I think he will be a big player for this club in the future but for now it is about aiding his development and getting him back up to speed.
“We have got some options in Scotland, the SPL, and possibly around here as well so we want to aid players’ development and we will do the due diligence. This isn’t just about getting them out on loan to get them out of the way and play, it’s strategic.
“What team are they playing for, what way will they play, does it mirror what we do here, will it aid his development? It is all important."
Wanderers are on the road for the first time this season when they take on AFC Wimbledon tomorrow.
Evatt believes League One will throw up different things on the road this season, but the Bolton boss believes his side will have to show character, like they have done in their first two matches against MK Dons and Barnsley.
Evatt said: “We have to do what we have built all this on, and that’s hard work, being hard to beat and then hopefully our quality will show in the end.
“League One will throw different things at us. The bigger clubs will have huge crowds and stadia that you have to deal with, and maybe a more tactical game. But then there will be some games where you just have to roll up your sleeves, dig and fight. This is one of those occasions where we will have to show character.
“I think I know what these players are about now. We came through adversity in the MK Dons game and then the other night against Barnsley we bounced back after a poor first half and dominated, won a penalty shootout, so I know we have got character in that dressing room now.
“We showed it a lot last season. We are confident with what we have got in the squad but we have to go out and prove it. Saturday is another chance to play well and get three points."
